Greetings to the membership of local 387 I would like to
congratulate all the members that took advantage of the buyouts. I

require union leave from Ford Motor Company that the Local Union is contractually obligated (Volume 1 Article V III Section 31 a) to provide the company with at least 3 days notice prior to the person being released from the floor.
Standing Committee:
We have openings for members to become active on
standing committees. The only criteria to become a member of a
committee are that you must attend 2 out of every 3 Monthly
Membership Meetings. If you are interested in one of the committees
please contact the local. |
I would like to address the issue of quality and what it means to the people of Woodhaven Stamping Plant and UAW Local 387. We have all heard and/ or made such statements as, "Don't Take It! And Don't Pass It On!" Then management reminds us that "Quality is everyone's job." Let's take a good look at these words. | |||

this is a great opportunity to show our solidarity and to socialize outside the workplace. We have kicked around all kinds of ideas. We have an outstanding facility and we need to utilize it for our membership. We would also like to have a bar-b-que. A tentative date in July will be used. If anybody has any ideas or would like to volunteer please notify any of the Union Structure both at the Local and in the plant. Friendly reminder: the May membership meeting will be on the third Sunday this month due to the Memorial Day weekend. Finances of the Local: The abatement letters have all been sent out to the appropriate agencies and we are waiting their reply. "Don't Take It!" At the present
time, we are accepting parts from outside vendors with random
defects. I feel that if the company wants a higher level of
performance from our manufacturing floor, then they must also demand
a higher level of performance from outside contractors.
Let's look at the statement, "Don't Make It!" We must ask management how they expect us to make good fenders and tailgates out of defective materials.
